A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam candidate on Tuesday evening stabbed his uncle to death just after finishing the exams in Chebing’ombe, Nyamira County.
The candidate from Sosera Secondary School is said to have stabbed his uncle several times and vanished after the heinous act.
Robert Nyambane, the victim’s brother, divulged that they were alerted by neighbours who found the deceased lying in a pool of blood before they rushed him to hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
Angry residents chased away the boy’s family before they torched down their five houses and proceeded to cut down the crops in the farms.
Confirming the incident, Manga Assistant Chief Charles Karaya urged the locals not to take action into their own hands.
“Residents slaughtered livestock and poultry, cut down crops and destroyed property belonging to the suspected killer’s family in an act of revenge,” said Manga Assistant Chief Charles Karaya
Karaya stated that police had launched an investigation into the matter and also a manhunt for the boy.
It remains a mystery why the boy turned on his uncle just after concluding the exams.
